The Calm And Steady Path
In this book you will find the ways to identify the source of interpersonal, marital, familial, and professional suffering. As importantly, steps will be provided to achieve mental clarity and emotional balance, presented in clear and simple terms. The Calm and Steady Path will guide you along the road towards self-fulfillment and a healthy lightness of being.
Self-awareness and maturity are not givens; they are consequences of paying attention to what we do, having the intention to do the “right” thing as often as we can, as well as being conscientiousness and persistent in our determination to transcend our painful patterns of behavior. At first, however, we have to become acutely aware of how we evoke and provoke our own suffering. It is only through such awareness that we can free ourselves from our neurotic patterns and find the calm and steady path waiting there for us.
We all have an innate drive for self-improvement. At times, this drive becomes contaminated with a compulsive need to prove something to ourselves and to others. This striving becomes almost frenetic, causing undue distress for all those concerned.
When, on the other hand, our striving for something better rests upon a deep-rooted appreciation for who we are and for what we have already achieved, the process is usually quite enjoyable and enriching. We do what we have to do with a determined calm, rather than with a frenzied and flailing urgency.
The Calm and Steady Path guides the reader along the steps towards mental clarity, emotional balance, and spiritual awareness. While there are many methods to achieve this, I have found that there are 12 basic life attitudes or skills that are particularly useful to light up, and lighten up, our path. These life skills are available to all of us, simply waiting for the right time and right circumstances to emerge within our consciousness
